Welcome to another "short on time" show featuring longer pieces from a number of newer releases. 
During my long weekend trip to visit friends and family in Connecticut, I had the opportunity to see Toby Amies' documentary, "In The Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50".  Even if you're not a King Crimson or a progressive rock fan, the film is quite engaging, both funny and moving.  Well worth checking out. In addition, on the way back I was able to make my seasonal winter stop at the Princeton Record Exchange and loaded up on goodies to be shared on upcoming programs.

Greetings!
Phase One of today's program highlights a number of new releases, concluding with the emotional, "Journey’s End," Neil Rolnick's reflection on the battle with cancer experienced by the his wife of 45 years, Wendy. The piece was commissioned and performed by Kathleen Supové who, as a personal friend of the couple, witnessed Wendy’s heroic fight with the disease and Rolnick’s role in caring for her throughout her illness. 
In Phase Two, we celebrate the 86th revolution around the sun of Philip Glass, featuring some lesser known pieces.

The selection of the works making up a majority of today's program were inspired by my recent trip to Turkey.  You'll get a bit of a history lesson in how traditional Turkish music was integrated with Western music in the early 20th century following the Turkish War of Independence which ended in 1923 and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey which followed.  In addition, I've got some new releases thrown in for good measure.
